Mr. Karlowicz died Tuesday in Underwood-Memorial Hospital, Woodbury, after a long illness. Mr. Karlowiez was the owner of the Three Point Cafe at Deptford, a member of the New Jersey Tavern Owners Association, a director of the Mount Ephriam Savings and Loan Association, a former president of the association and a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.

Conticted of Extortion Prison Terms Cut For 3 Shore Aides A federal court judge Thursday reduced the sentences of two former Atlantic City officials and one Atlantic County official convicted nearly two years ago of extortion.

Chief U.S. District Court Judge Mitchell H. Cohen, in Camden, ordered the reductions for Patrick J. Doran, former Atlantic County engineer; Karlos R. LaSane, a former Atlantic City Commissioner; and Germaine Fisher, former secretary to the city's public works director.

LaSane and Fisher were tried last year and convicted March 8 on charges they accepted more than $28,000 in kickbacks from firms doing business with the city over a ten-year period. Doran was convicted Jan. 10 on a charge of extorting more than $175,000 from contractors working on the Bears Head Road project in 1968. Cohen reduced Doran's sentence from the original fiveyear term to three years, LaSane's sentence from four to three years, and Fisher's term from two years, to 18 months. The three are presently serving their sentences.
