Eagles (Continued from Page Twenty-eight) holders and no such meeting has been held, the Eagles said. The Trenton story, written by 0: "a city editor Dave West, quoted source close to the Eagles' front office." Guglielmi Signs Pact With Eagles PHILADELPHIA (UPI) The Philadelphia Eagles signed Ralph Guglielmi yesterday as a backstop to King Hill, the team's only serviceable quarterback as a result of Sonny Jurgensen's arm injury. Guglielmi; who quit the NaNotional Football League in a pique rather than report to the San Francisco 49ers after the New York Giants traded him a month ago, agreed to terms with the hurtin' Eagles by telephone.

He hustled here, spent the night digesting the Eagles' plans, and then worked out in a morning session yesterday before signing ofwith general manager Vince Mcficially at -34 afternoon meeting Nally. The Eagles released defensive lineman Fate Echols to make room for Guglielmi. Echols had a short-lived career with the Eagles in that he was signed as a free agent 10 days ago Frank Fuller suffered a broken leg in Washington. Echols suited, but did not play against Cleveland last Sunday. Guglielmi's signing brought him within one game of qualifying for the NFL player pension plan.

He played in two for the Giants this year and needs only one game to round out the necessary service making him eligible to collect an expected $500 a month at the age of 65. There's little doubt Guglielmi will get in the one game- pension plan demands three games played in each of five seasonswith the Eagles. Hill is the team's only quarterback, and Jurgensen's return may be delayed one, two, three or even four weeks. Progressive recovery from the injury Sonny suffered in the Browns game may shorten the time, but there's no guarantee day to day or week to week when he will be sound enough to play.
