Once-Jailed Chief Grabs Yemen Rule ADEN (UPI) A man who was freed last month from a Cairo jail ruled Yemen today following a smooth military takeover of the government.

Abdul Rahman Eriani, 55, seized power yesterday from President Abdullah Sallal, who was out of the country on a to Moscow. Sallal halted his trip and waited in Baghdad. Troops Retrained Informed sources in Cairo said several thousand Egyptian soldiers awaiting withdrawal from the Yemen were ordered not to intervene in the coup, considered a purely domestic affair. The Cairo sources said all indications were the coup was directed against Sallal and his supporters, not against the Republican governmental system that Cairo backed with money and troops in Yemen's five-year civil war. The Egyptian troops have been assembling at Hodeida, preparing to withdraw from Yemen.

The withdrawal was scheduled to be completed by Dec. 15. Eriani, the new chief of state, W. F. Meade Dies, Phila.

Teachers End 2-Week Strike MARTINS FERRY, Ohio (UPI) Eighty Martins Ferry school teachers returned to work today, ending a twoweek walkout. Schools Supt. John said student absenteeism was normal for any regular school day.

The return to the classrooms by more than two-thirds of the city's 130 teachers was the result of an order issued Friday by Judge Edmund L. Matz of Belmont County Common Pleas Court. The teachers struck after charging the Martins Ferry board of education failed to live up to an agreement of last spring, following a six-day teacher strike. N.Y. Man Jumps From 45th Floor NEW YORK (UPI) An unidentified Oriental man jumped to his death today from a 45th floor window of the RCA building in Rockefeller Center.

Police said the man, shabbily dressed and shoeless, walked into an office the Chevron Commercial Company at 8:40 a.m. to report he had been robbed. As an employe of the firm was telephoning authorities, the man walked to a window, opened it and jumped, police said. Officials said an 11th floor garden broke the man's fall. The discovery was made by Meade's brother, County Court Judge John R.

Meade. A doctor who was summoned pronounced Meade dead. Meade was city Republican chairman from 1948 to 1951 but had been a power in the party here for years that. His party activities had been restricted in recent years by a court ruling concerning political activity of judges and tax board members. Meade, whose father, the late John R.

Meade was a ward leader and court clerk for many years, had a short career as reporter with the old Philadelphia North American and then became secretary to a municipal court judge. He held that post for 10 years, later became a real estate to assessor the clerk and of then chief deputy Quarter Sessions Court. Meade was divorced from his wife, the former Marian Coyle, in 1951 after 20 years of marraige. The couple had no children. Meade is survived by his brother and his mother, Mrs.
