0 of Grateful for Letters C-P Appeal Fills Vietnam Veteran's Mail Bag AIRMAN John T. Wright, 22, of 5 Bobolink Road, Audubon Park, was carrying a big plastic zippered bag when he stopped off at the Courier-Post. It was heavy and it bulged to with more than 150 letters that Mother of 6 In Crash Is Critical CINNAMINSON A 38-yearold woman remained in critical condition today in Zurbrugg Hospital, Riverside, after the car she was driving struck a utility pole. According to Cinnaminson police, Mrs. Alice E.

Bove, of 110 Woodview Lane, lost control of her vehicle on the 800 block of Route 130 shortly after noon yesterday. Police said she was thrown 20 feet into the air by the impact of the crash and landed on the roadway. Hospital officials reported that Mrs. Bove was admitted with head injuries, cuts on both legs and several broken ribs. She was taken to the hospital in the Palmyra ambulance.

Bove is the mother of six children ranging in age from four to 18. Police reported that Mrs. Bove's husband, Louis was in Delaware on business yesterday when the accident occurred. Wright had received in response to a Courier-Post appeal for mail for servicemen stationed in Vietnam during the past Christmas season. "It felt so good to get all this mail," said Wright, who leaves Monday for Craig Air Force Base, Selma, "that I just had to tell you.

I want to thank those who wrote and whom I might have missed answering. I also want to thank the Courier-Post." HE SAID that when he received the Courier-Post list he found nd the names of a number of old friends and their addresses and was able to write to them, too. The son of Mr. and Mrs. John F.

Wright, he has served 20 months of a four-year hitch in the Air Force. He served six months in Korea and eight months in Vietnam. He was a courier with the 504th Tactical Air Support Group and carried messages between various base headquarters. Most of his flights were out of Saigon and Bien Hoa. "SOMETIMES." he said, "we ran into ground fire, but most of the flights were routine." Wright was awarded an Air Force commendation ribbon for this duty.

A 1964 graduate of Audubon High School, Wright worked as a variety store assistant manager before enlisting. He hopes to resume this career. He has a brother, Dennis, 17, now at Audubon High, and a sister, Kathleen, 13, who attends the Audubon Park elementary school. CORE Aide Jailed In School Melee PHILADELPHIA (UPI) A civil rights leader was arrested yesterday after hundreds of girls at the predominantly Negro William Penn High School for Girls ran screaming through hallways protesting postponement of a beauty pageant. William Mathis, president of the local chapter of the Congress of Racial Equality (CORE), was arrested near the school and charged with inciting to riot, and malicious mischief.

The disturbance came on the heels of last Monday's "sit-in" protesting busing of 250 girls to a privately-owned building to ease overcrowding at the high school. Threatened Police Police Sgt. Joseph Davis said Mathis warned school officials after the Monday demonstration that if there wasn't "some agreement by Friday there would be abrasive action." The action came when offi3 cials postponed an assembly contest to choose a Miss William Penn to reign as queen of the school dance because only 8 of 10 contestants were present. An estimated 1,500 girls broke into chants, then began running around the halls and invaded a cafeteria where 0 more than 100 dishes were smashed by the girls. 2 False Alarms Some of the demonstrators turned in two false fire alarms at the school, but firemen were alerted to the nature of the situation by police and did not respond.

The incident caused a secondary disturbance at the nearby Benjamin Franklin High School for Boys when the girls, dismissed for the day, chanted outside. Soon, hundreds of boys streamed into the street, blocktraffic. Mathis was held in $10,000 bail pending a hearing on the charges. Ex-Major, 2 Guilty In Loan Shakedown PHILADELPHIA Convicted in a loan shakedown, a retired Willingboro, N. Air Force major was continued in $5,000 bail today, pending an appeal for a new trial.

Also convicted with Arthur Ashkenase, 49, of Millbrook Drive, were Francis J. Marino, 39, of Livezey Street, and Salvatore Rispo 30, of I Street. All three had been charged with blackmail, extortion and conspiracy in an attempt to force Morris B. Singer, 41, of the Dorchester Apartments, a Fairless Hills haberdasher, to pay $10,000 on a $3,000 loan. Common Pleas Judge Edmund 4-Alarm Blaze Rips Refinery PHILADELPHIA A fouralarm fire at the Gulf Refining Company plant, near 26th street and Penrose Avenue was declared under control at 9:07 a.m.

today, some three hours after the first alarm was struck. The blaze broke out in a onestory brick boiler house shortly after 6 a.m. The four alarms were struck in a matter of 14 minutes. Two men in the boiler house were not injured. Twelve engine companies, five ladder companies, a chemical unit and Fireboat 3, plus rescue squads and fire officials answered the alarms.

The firemen use deluge guns as they isolated the blaze in the 60 by 200-foot building housing three steam boilers. It is believed the blaze was touched off by a ruptured fuel line. The 362-acre refinery area was the scene of a five-alarm fire last May 23. T-6 COURIER-POST MAILING ADDRESS COURIER -POST Camden, N.J. 08101 (1) DEATH NOTICES SYKES On April 20, 1967.

Catholics Rip Hymns In Protest PARIS -A dozen French Roman Catholics tore up hymn sheets in Notre Dame Cathedral today to protest a church unity service attended by Britain's archbishop of Canterbury, Dr. Michael Ramsey. The action took place at the beginning of a ceremony in which Ramsey and Paris Archbishop Pierre Veuillot knelt in prayer together before the cathe-land dral's high altar to demonstrate the ecumenical spirit of the Anglican and Roman Catholic Churches. The group shouted its opposi-1967, tion to the ceremony after ripping up the hymnals, then they were quietly escorted out of the ancient church by ushers. Ramsey had earlier been welcomed at the ornate door of the cathedral by Veuillot.

Both churchmen, wearing their purple robes of office, embraced each other and paused for photographs before entering the cathedral. After the ceremony Ramsey visited French President Charles de Gaulle. "We have talked about all the questions which preoccupy all (Christians," he said after seeing the French leader. He recalled he had already met De Gaulle briefly at the funeral in London of Sir Winston Churchill "but today was my first real meeting with the president and it was for me a great privilege to speak with him," he said. Ramsey was accompanied throughout the morning by British Ambassador Sir Patrick Reilly who later gave a reception in the archbishop's honor at the British embassy.

Strikers Close Goodyear Plant AKRON, Ohio (UPI)-Strikes idled plants producing about half the nation's rubber products today with no negotiations scheduled until next Wednesday. Some 50,000 members of the United Rubber Workers off their jobs at midnight Thursday at plants operated by Uniroyal, Firestone Tire Rubber Company, and the B. F. Goodrich Company. Higher wages and co guaranteed minimum wage appeared to be the major obstacles to a contract settlement.

The walkout spread yesterday to a fourth member of the rubper industry's "big five" when 500 workers at a Goodyear Tire Rubber Company facility in North Chicago, walked off the job, forcing the plant to shut down. Work continued at other Goodyear plants. Marriage Licenses Adolph Dove and Carrie Davis, 23, both of 700 Berkley Street. William Scott, 21. of 919 S.

ext. 247. Monday thru Friday 9 a.m.-6 p.m, BAMBERGER'S CHERRY HILL Dr 4 A A 20 44H Spaeth Jr. deferred sentencing, pending the filing of motions for new trials. They were tried without a jury.

The judge reviewed two weeks of testimony in his chambers before announcing his verdict yesterday. Judge Spaeth ruled that Ashkenase went outside the law in his effort to collect money owed him by Singer. The haberdasher claimed he was threatened with death if he didn't pay the $10,000 demanded by Marino and Rispo. Ashkenase claimed he had sold Singer's note for the debt to Marino and Rispo. The three men still face Bucks County, charges stemming from a complaint by Singer that he was pushed around, threatened and robbed of valuables when the trio visited his store.
