Courreges' dresses range from his classic "structured" look in white wool to sweet numbers in candy cane colors and awning stripes. Some of them snap off to show bikini swim suits underneath that have structured Courreges look, too.

Frizzy hennaed hair. Blood red fingernails. And dresses that look exactly like un-derslips. The Paris spring ready-to-wear collections have stolen that World War II floozy girt from Yves Saint Laurent and dark red hair is all over town, the streakier the better. The hennaed mannequins at the style parade staged by the Mendes manufacturing house tripped out on platform-soled, high-heeled shoes to display slinky short silk crepe dresses with lace trimming around the low neck and hem.

Just dig out one of your old slips that women hardly wear under dresses any more. More vampishness appeared in evening trouser outfits in pale peach silk crepe and other 'pale edible colors worn with matching turbans. The midi dress also is back, to the relief of women who think it is absurd for Paris to decree absolutely one hemline for everybody. Last season some designers and fashion writers were insisting that the "average" woman, whatever that means, simply must wear everything just at the knee. Silk Jerseys Jean Muir, the English designer who moved to Paris and has had spectacular success, showed her familiar line of silk jersey dresses that gracefully swung from knee length to midi to ankle length, take your pick.

Miss Muir won cheers from the press and buyers for those deceptively simple-looking dresses in muddy greens, pale gray, black and rust that were draped, shirred and tucked. They had that romantic, soft look reminiscent of the 1930s but still very 1972. Halloween Best man was Mr. Donald Knepler of TurnersvHle. Ushers were Mr.
