ANACIN TABLETS 100's By RICK DU BROW HOLLYWOOD (UPI) An NBC-TV newsman described on television last night how he underwent the ancient Chinese treatment of acupun-ture for his case of tennis elbow, and now feels like "playing a couple of good hard sets." In the Chinese treatment, the body is punctured with needles to cure disease or relieve pain. The newsman, David Weber of the network's London bureau, appeared on NBC-TV's "First Tuesday" and also interviewed the physician who treated him, Dr. Yong Chi Siow, a leading acu-punturist in England. Weber said he took a crack at acupunture because "everything else had failed the cortisone shots, the deep friction treatment, even wearing a copper bracelet so, Dr. Siow needled me, as the acupunture people like to say, and, I must say it was an unnerving experience, although not particularly painful, just watching that stainless steel needle about an inch and a half long and the thickness of a human hair go sliding into my arm WELL, now, a week after this treatment I find I can move my wrist freely.

I can make a very tight fist and not feel any of the old pain. Of' course, my acupuntured tennis elbow has not been subjected to the acid test, but I can say for the first time in two years that I at least feel like picking up the tennis racket and playing a couple of good hard sets." The "First Tuesday" segment on acupunture presented statements by those both optimistic and pessimistic about the worth of the treatment. An American expert in neurological surgery said: "I am concerned about the publicity given to acupunture because I fear that many people with chronic illness are going to take up new hopes and perhaps are going to be subjected to treatments that are bound to be painful and without an ultimate benefit, and certainly they should consult their own medical (tell! 1 I If FAST I I. 'S I' Saturday Fare Violence Dominates Kids' TV NEW YORK (UP)-A re-port on the children-oriented Saturday morning television programs said Tuesday that 71 per cent of the dramatic programs contained some form of violence and on the average there was one advertisement every 2.8 minutes. F.

Earle Barcus, a professor in communications research at Boston University who conducted the survey, said he would submit his findings to the Federal Communications Commission, which is studying children's programing. most depressing aspect of the program content was its lack of diversity," Barcus said. "We found the same repetitive stories in animated form." Barcus watched 1,125 minutes of Saturday morning television during May and June in making his report. The report does not take into account the planned programing changes scheduled for this fall by the major networks. The report was commissioned by Action for Children's Television (ACT), a citizens group founded to obtain better children's programing and eliminate commercials it claims exploit children.

Barcus said three out of 10 dramatic segments were "saturated" with violence; 71 per cent had some form of violence, with or without weapons; 52 per cent of the violence was aimed at humans, but death or injury resulted in only 4 per cent of the incidents. "Despite "the abundance of violence, one was left with the impression that after all, violence is harmless since very little permanent damage ds done to the characters," he eaid. During the 1,125 minutes watched, Barcus said there were 406 Commercial messages, many of which lacked "essential data" for the buyer. Other of the report: 89 per cent of the programing was devoted to "entertainment programs" with drama," primarily cartoons, occupying 70 per cent of that time. Less than 3 per cent of the programs delt with such topics as the family, literature and the fine arts, and only one minute in 15 could be classified as "informational programing." 62 per cent of the pro-.

grams were animated, 53 per cent involved a chase scene, 23 per cent used laugh tracks and 19 involved suspenseful situations. v. LAVORIS MOUTHWASH 20-oz. TAMP AX TAMPONS Regular or Super 40's I ill I avoris y-v UIIU BROMO SELTZER 4'4-oz. EDGE SHAVE CREAM 6'4-oz.
