The lawmakers will meet Friday, Monday and the follow ing Monday, Nov. 28 Agreeing Medicaid was the major "agenda problem, Senate Majority Leader Frank X.

Mc Dermott of Union said Friday's session would be interrupted for a special attempt to settle on a bill acceptable to both the Senate and Assembly, Attending the Medicaid parley, he said, will be the leaders of both houses, the two sponsors of rival bills, Sen. Joseph Maraziti, R-Morris, and Assem blyman Frank J. Assistant Assembly Majority Leader William K.

Dickey, R-Camden, talked after his bloc's caucus ended in terms of putting Vanderplaat's Medi- caid proposal, with a number of amendments, on the Assembly vote board Friday. Dickey said there were enough: votes "to get the bill on the vote board at our party confer-' ence but there were not 41 votes' on hand to assure passage of the bill." He said one of the amendments would bar any profits for the insurance carrier who might handle the program for the state. i Vanderplaat's bill was pro- posed after the Senate passed; Maraziti's bill and sent it to! the House. The Assembly and! Senate Bill would not differ materially in initial costs about $10 million for the first six months of 1970, when the state must launch Medicaid or lose $26 million in Federal welfare1 grants. But Vanderplaat's would provide an insurance feature protecting the state against costs( mushrooming beyond its own Medicaid cost estimates.

i While there is considerable Assembly sentiment for inaction on Medicaid, other GOP legislative leaders, particularly in the Senate, fear the Democrats will gain a 1969 gubernatorial campaign issue if the Republicans fail to launch at least a minimal medical aid plan. In Dover the William Hedges Baker American Legion Post used Veteran's Day ceremonies to protest the government's "inaction" over the return of the Pueblo and her crew captured by North Korea in January. "The American people have been misled long enough," said Ralph J. Baston, the post's "Americanism" co-chairman. Members of the post also passed out petitions for the return of the ship and its crew during a morning parade.

Communities from Atlanticj City to Dumont in Bergen County to Asbury Park held wreath laying ceremonies on monuments listing the names of men who died fighting for thier country. And in Asbury Park a lone man climbed to a third floor balcony. He put a bugle to his lips as noon luncheon crowds scurried below. Slowly hei played out the mournful sounds of "Taps."
