POLICE NOTEBOOK Man killed in freak Man loses his job, automobile accident body found in bay BURLINGTON TWP. A Burlington City man was killed yesterday when a car went out of control on Route 130, struck a traffic light, became airbound and landed on the victim's car which was stopped for the traffic light. Police said Herman D'Elena, 61, of 431 Locust was dead on arrival at Rancocas Valley Hospital, Willingboro, from multiple injuries.

An autopsy was to be performed today by the county medical examiner's office. Police said the accident occurred when a car driven by Gary Brock, 19, of 2005 Beverly Road, Burlington Township, went out of control as it approached the intersection of Stonebridge Road. Brock's car jumped a center divider on Route 130, sheered off the traffic light standard and landed on the hood and windshield of D'Elena car. Debris from the accident also struck two other cars stopped for the traffic light. The drivers of those cars received minor injuries.

Brock was taken to Zurbrugg Memorial Hospital in Riverside. He was listed in stable condition today with multiple injuries, police said. The cause of the 12:40 p.m. accident was under investigation. Insect stings fatal to doctor Associated Press DOYLESTOWN, Pa.

A New Hope physician died at Doylestown Hospital a short time after he was stung by flying insects, officials said. Dr. Arthur J. Ricker, 65, was stung at least five times by honey bees or yellow jackets Monday afternoon at his Solebury Township home, officials said. Both species were present around his home at the time.

Ricker was weeding vegetables in his garden when he was attacked, according to family members. He jumped into a swimming pool in an effort to escape. The Lambertville Rescue Squad tried to ease the shock that was part of his body's reaction to the venom in the stings, but Ricker died several hours later. He helped found the New Hope Historical Society in 1959, and was its first president. OBITUARY Dr.
