I Task force vows to end racial strife Continued from 1 Page 1B would include the need for more black teachers and guidance counselors. The meeting was attended by only seven of the 14 voting members and one of the two non-voting members. One of the voting members, a representative from the Greenwich school board, has not yet officially been named. The Greenwich school board, sent a written request for a seat on the task force because Greenwich sends its ninth- through 12th-grade students to Paulsboro High School. Martin forecasts early summer Continued from Page 1B Then, each year, Martin is taken to the beach aboard his tacky green and gold throne (of which he sometimes crawls or falls off) and set down tofind his shadow.

This year, Martin came to the Boardwalk at Moorlyn Terrace in the city's new trackless trolley and then was taken across the Boardwalk and to the beach in a wagon pulled by Fido. In years past, however, Martin has come to the beach in a sailboat, a dog sled pulled by Siberian Huskys andina chauffeured limousine, to name just a few modes of transportation. Soifer is also quick to point out that Martin "has been the first hermit crab in space. He went up kite." Actually, the 1983 MartinZ. Mollusk is not the original 1975 Martin Z.

Mollusk. "There have been a succession of Martins, but they're all in the same great tradition," Soifer said proudly. And then as the worker packed up Martin's throne and the fakeferns, the ninth annual Martin Z. Mollusk festivities came to an end. Howard Hawn, superintendent of the Greenwich schools, said David Jenkins would represent the board, although no formal action naminghim representative has yet been taken.

Members attending the first meeting were school board members Mary Knestaut, James DiGennaro and Joseph Giovannitte, who arrived late. School board president Russell Stetser, who refused to sit on the task force and appointed DiGennaro to take his place, filled in for Giovannitte until he arrived. Also in attendance were Peter Limanni, president of the Paulsboro Education Association; Rivera, community service director for the Southwest Citizens' Organization for Poverty Elimination; Robert Howard, chairman of the Areawide Citizens' Awareness Coalition; and Rev. Ezekiel Bey, pastor of the Second Baptist Church of Paulsboro and a representative of the West Gloucester County Ministerium. Richard Strauss, superindentent of schools, was the non-voting member in attendance.

The other seven voting members who did not attend are: Mozelle Dansby, president of the Paulsboro chapter of the Citizen's Awareness Coalition; Mayor John Burzichelli; councilmen Anderson Byrd and Frank DiGiovacchino; Robert Banks and Joyce Howard, members of the Areawide Citizen's Awareness Coalition; and the Greenwich School Board member. Ada Montare, of the U.S. Department of Justice is the other non-voting member. Montare was sent to offer assistance in identifying the issues and helping try to solve them. The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and the Gloucester County Black Caucus were asked to send representatives but refused.

The next meeting is scheduled for May 18 at 7:30 p.m. in the high schooi library. Rivera said the task forcestill will be organizing, so the meeting probably will be closed to the public. OBITUARY Dr. Ralph C.
