Murdock, a retired professional engineering consultant, was a 1953 graduate of Drexel University. Mr. Murdock was a Navy veteran, serving in the field" of mechanical engineering from 1939 to 1973, when he retired" as director of the Applied Physics Department at the U.S. Naval Ship Engineering Center, Philadelphia. He was also a faculty member at Drexel University, serving 'as associate head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Mechanics from 1976 to 1986.

Mr. Murdock began his work at Drexel University in 1950 as a part-time instructor in the mechanical engineering department. In 1991, 1 he retired from the department as associate professor emeritus. He was a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the American Gas Association, the American Society for Testing Materials, the American National Standards Institute, a and the International Standards Organization. He was also active in the American Society for Engineering Education and the American Society for Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers.

Mr. Murdock was a member of several honor societies, including Lambda Delta Sigma, Pi Tau Sigma, Alpha Sigma Lambda and Phi Eta Sigma. Surviving is his fiancee, Dorothy Thompson of Medford. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Stretch, Evans and Kain Funeral Home, 8 W.

Kings Highway, Haddonfield, where friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Masonic services will be 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery, Drexel Hill, Pa.
