The county plans to hire a consultant to handle the selection and placement of seniors into apartments, said Gerald DeFelicis, director of Policy Planning and Development The association is not yet taking applications. About 6,000 income-eligible seniors are on waiting lists for other facilities, DeFelicis said, so officials expect a glut of applications. County officials believe the operation will eventually pay for itself. Revenue from tenants, subsidies from the state and federal governments, market rate rents and lease payments for commercial space at the complex will be enough to pay off the bonds and pay operating costs. Vincent Cangelosi, the county's principal planner and the point man for the project, said rents for eligible seniors will range between $350 and $475, including utility costs.

Senior citizens currently living in the complex and paying market rents will be allowed to remain, DeFelicis said. ADAMS-AD AMSKI On October 23, T991. Walter F. Officials of the Camden County Housing Association signed an agreement of sale with the owners of Sutton Towers apartments on the White Horse Pike in Collingswood Thursday in a senior center there. The association, a recently created, non-profit corporation, will own the four-building complex. The county government can't own a building it doesn't occupy. The association plans to convert the 1,037 units to house low- and moderate-income seniors. "My feeling is that history is being made today," said Donald Jaffee, a Sutton Towers co-owner who is selling the property for $37.5 million.

At a special meeting in the evening, the freeholders gave preliminary approval to the sale of $41 million in bonds to finance the purchase of Sutton Towers and Obituaries Gene Roddenberry, 70, created 'Star Trek' "To seek out new life and new civilizations. A native of El Paso, Texas, Mr. Roddenberry was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for his World War II service.

He was 70. Mr. Roddenberry died at Santa Monica Medical Center shortly after suffering a heart attack at his doctor's office across the street, a hospital spokesman said. "Star Trek," a ratings flop when it ran in the late 1960s, gained real fame in reruns of its 79 episodes.

It led to six "Star Trek" feature films, a new series with different intergalactic characters and a cultural phenomenon of conventions, books, clothing and lunch boxes. The original series, set in the 23rd century, featured the Star-ship Enterprise and its crew, including the dashing Capt Kirk, played by William Shatner, and the logical but emotionless Vulcan first mate, Mr. Spock, played by Leonard Nimoy. Shatner called Mr. Roddenberry W.F.

slender woman whose blue eyes welled up with tears. "When the mothers were gone, the males got to the female babies and impregnated them. They were too young, but they got pregnant anyway and died." Conway's Church Street neighbors acknowledge her good intentions. But they complain that the rabbits, which weigh up to 15 pounds, constantly escape from Conway's one-third-acre back yard or are "rabbit-napped" by neighborhood children and cats. They find the rabbits' droppings, and sometimes their carcasses, in the cemeteries of the First Presbyterian Church and the Blackwood United Methodist Church, Pirotta said.

"I don't think this is the place for rabbits," said the Rev. David Davis, pastor of the Presbyterian Church on the corner of the Black Horse Pike and Church Street Davis and his wife and 6-month-old daughter live in the house adjacent to Conway's. "They ate our garden. Her hobby overtook our hobby." "No one's willing to set limits. There are no guidelines for physicians.

Conway says the rabbits aren't improperly confined, and that the owners of neighborhood cats, not herself, should be blamed for the rabbit carcasses found in two adjacent church cemeteries. She also said she's never had a rodent on her property. "It would be improper for the law to tell me I have to put something in a cage, where it would be devoid of exercise," she said. When she was told township officials said the rabbits will be removed if she's found guilty of the county's allegations at a Nov. 19 Municipal Court hearing, she said, "They would be killing them," Township officials say the rabbits would go to a nature preserve.

She already blames the township for rabbits that died in her arms last summer when, she says, officials forced her to remove them so quickly that she didn't have time to properly identify their genders. "I accidentally took away some nursing mothers," said Conway, a Doctors: Overabundant health care needed Continued from Page IB medicine is high.
