Wife of the late William R. i 1 1 i HIGHTSTOWN Hubert N. Alyea, a Princeton University chemistry professor who earned the nickname "Dr. Boom" for his experiments that created small explosions, died at his home here. He was 93.

Dr. Alyea died in his sleep on Saturday. At the family's request, the cause of death was not released. Princeton said Dr. Alyea served as the inspiration for Walt Disney's movie The Absent-Minded Professor, but a Disney researcher disputed that Tuesday.

Dr. Alyea earned the nickname "Dr. Boom" from Russian observers for his demonstrations at the William II. Schuyler, 76, of Franklin, Ohio, died Monday at the Franklin Nursing Home there. Mr.

Schuyler was a longtime Medford resident. Before retiring he was a foreman for D. Bearsley and Son Painting Contractors, Philadelphia. He is survived by three sons, Ronald of Medford, William H. Jr.

of Audubon and Donald of Florida; two daughters, Carol Dakin of Middletown, Ohio, and Cathy Noel of Washington, D.C.; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Hazelwood, 78, of Collingswood died Friday at Fair Acres Geriatric Center, Middletown, Pa. Mrs. Hazelwood (nee Spence) was a homemaker. Surviving are a daughter, Marsha L. Vasaturo of Lansdowne, a brother, William Spence of Marlton; a sister, Elsie Matloz of Williamstown; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be noon today at Foster's Funeral Home, Haddon and Lees avenues, Collingswood, where friends may call after 11 a.m. Burial will be in Harleigh Cemetery, Camden. Lioyal C. Jackson, 55, of W'inslowdied Monday at West Jersey Hospital, Berlin. Mr.

Jackson was born in Philadelphia and lived there before moving to the Sicklerville section of the township in 1977. He was a production supervisor at the Budd Red Lion plant in Philadelphia for 23 years. He was also an Army veteran. Mr. Jackson is survived by his wife, Delores (nee Harris); two sons, Jon and Joel, and a daughter, Vivienne, all at home; two brothers, Theodore "Joe" of Clementon and Gary of Philadelphia; and two sisters, Juanita Robinson and Deborah Jackson, both of Philadelphia.

Memorial services will be Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the Franklin-ville Congregation of the Jehovah's Witnesses, Williamstown-Frank-linville Road, Williamstown. Interment will be private. Arrangements are by the Far-nelli Funeral Home, Williamstown. Betty Gross, 89, of Cherry Hill, died Tuesday at Manor Care Health Services there.

Born in Russia, Mrs. Gross (nee Zemel) lived in Maplewood, Essex County, for 35 years before moving to Cherry Hill 10 years ago. She was a member of Congregation Beth El, Maplewood, and its Sisterhood. She was also a member of Hadassah. Mrs.

Gross is survived by two daughters, Deborah Ash of Cherry Hill and Nanette Robinson of YOUSE YOUSE, William F. In memory of my husband, Williom F. Youse, on his 49th Birthday. Dr. Alyea joined Princeton as an instructor in chemistry in 1930, advancing to assistant professor in 1934, associate professor in 1944, and professor in 1954. He served as a chemistry editor of Colliers Encyclopedia and as an associate editor of the Journal of Chemical Dr.

Alyea is survived by a son and a daughter-in-law, Frederick and Retha Ballard Alyea of Bala Cynwyd, one granddaughter, two nephews; and six great-nephews and great-nieces. A longtime member of First United Methodist Church, Moorestown, she sang in the choir for 62 years. She also belonged to Moorestown Camera Club, Business and Professional Women's Association of Moorestown, Moorestown Education Association, National Retired Teachers Association, and the New Jersey and National Education associations. She is survived by a niece, Anne McCleery, and a nephew, Robert McCleery, both of Willingboro; and five grandnephews. Services will be 10 a.m.

Friday at First United Methodist Church, Camden and Pleasant Valley avenues, Moorestown. Burial will be private. Caiazzo, 46, Of Edgewater Parodied of natural causes Saturday at his home. Mr. Caiazzo taught sixth grade at Hawthorne School in Willingboro for 23 years. He ws named Teacher of the Year in 1991. He had two degrees from Trenton State College.

Charles I. Owens 68, of Mullica Township, died fcf cancer Monday at the Fox Chase Cancer Center in Fox Chase, Pa. Born in Blackwood, Mr. Owens had lived in Mullica Township for the past 25 years. He was an engineer for American Dredge Corp.

of the Delaware Valley. An Army veteran of the Korean War, Mr. Owens was a life member of VFW Post 7927 in Blackwood. He is survived by his wife, Eileen; three sons, Charles Jr. and Thomas, both of Miami, and Charles Scott of Weekstown, Atlantic County; four daughters, Sharon Brown of Dry Run, Lynn Thomas of Little Egg Harbor Township, Deborah Massa Franklinville, and Jeanette Gel-tings of Weekstown; five brothers, Thomas, Robert, William, Rich-ard, and John; three sisters, Viola Morgan of Sicklerville, and Cora Bromley and Lilly Harding, both of Seminole, 19 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildreri.

Alyea attended Princeton as an undergraduate and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa in his junior year. After graduating in 1925, Dr. Alyea spent a year at the Nobel Institute in Stockholm, Sweden, before returning to Princeton to receive his doctorate in 1928. He spent the next three years as a Rockefeller Foundation Fellow studying the chemical effects Syosset, N.Y.; and six grandchildren. Graveside services will be 1 p.m.

He belonged to the Deptford Athletic Association and was a former coach for youth baseball, football and soccer teams in Deptford.
